    The gym is changing

Ive been going to this gym in fla almost 13 yrs. I go early in the morning and theres a regular crew there. Young but mostly older. We all say hello shoot the breeze briefly and when were resting between sets we exchange a few words. ITS FUN. Now the younger folks they are all running around working out with their phones in their hand they have bluetooth headsets and the music must be BLASTING because if they sounded a fire alarm they wouldnt hear it. If you need to say something to one of them you have to violate their person and touch them to get their attention. They cant hear a word you say even if you raise your voice.

Theres women in our gym its not all male and today theres a young lady who left her keys on her machine. Im walking behind her YELLING MISS, MISS, YO LADY. HEY YOU everyone is laughing, I did not want to put my hands on her but I had no choice, I tapped her shoulder and as I thought it would it startled her, I put my hands up and held her keys out, she said OHhhh thank you.

Not just the gym, when I ride a bike against traffic on the sidewalk, I bet, on average 7/10 are on the damn phone.

One thing I look for and covet these days on a daily basis is just some simple silence. The world could use a lot more self introspection IMO.

I go to the gym in the mornings and it's mostly older folks in the weight room that I see every day. They chat while they work out and seem to enjoy each other's companionship. The younger folks that come in are usually there to pick up an early class.

I go to the gym, it's called cycling all over creation and hiking a mile and a half up river, digging thru mud in the sun for fossils, all while mastering the 16 ounce curl! lol

I think exercise outside is the best. I really don't have a good place to do it.

I have rode my bike 100 miles in 12 hours 6 times in my life, they say it burns 5,000 calories, all I know is you are ravenous at the end of such a ride. I will likely never try it again without good reason, I would do 40 to 60 miles and camp out and finish the next day. This is with a bike loaded with aprx. 50 pounds of camp and repair gear. Way the hell out is no place to be stranded!

I don't socialize at the gym. I don't often care what people do or how loud the music is but one thing that annoys me is that people use their phones while they're on the machines. Finish and get off.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Indeed it is, the hair and beard keep the sun and bugs at bay.
