Except that he is correct in stating that many countries with universal healthcare have longer life expectancies.

Many also have better infant mortality rates.

First the numbers are not measured the same in each nation. At least on the live birth side.

Second, the US is fat and happy and less healthy to begin with because of its wealth. These numbers don't say the US can do universal coverage well. It can't because of its extravagance.

Give me a break. I travel a lot and people are people. While middle America is indeed fat, there are the same people in the Uk and Canada. Some Americans live under this illusion that the rest of the world lives on crackers and potatoes. Canada and the US are nearly identical when it comes to consumption and decadence. The real divide is rural vs urban. The average Torontonian has more in common with a New Yorker than someone from Wyoming. The same can be said for a Canadian from rural Alberta. He has more in common with the guy from Montana. To claim there is this huge cultural difference that is a copout.

You missed it. I am talking about the level of care that people in the US demand. How many MRI machines do you have in Canada? We have more in the national capital region than your entire nation.

I can get my cat an MRI faster than you can get one in Canada.

I can have an MRI Monday if I want one.

If you want to go the country with the most MRI machines per capita, visit Japan.
