Is it time to drop the Electoral College?

There have been close elections many times and when the Electoral College was enacted, it was needed due to the distance between states and the fact that you got there by horseback. Today we can be in NY at noon and in LA by 3 and we have the internet etc. I believe the College should be dissolved. I do have an underlying reason and that is because the states with the largest voting block are blue states, which if you go by fairness alone, is discriminatory. What do you think?

That's what he's saying, if it was straightforward popular vote then he wouldn't be campaigning in small towns.
I want my vote to count, that's all that matters to me. My state was going to Romney anyway, I could vote for the fuckstick from Kenya and still not make a damn difference. That's wrong to me. I say shit all over the electoral college, they make a lot of votes irrelevant.

POTUS candidates losing the election while winning the popular vote are highly rare for one thing. The second misconception is that urban areas are more populated than rural areas. What are those demographics?

OTOH, now that most states are totally uncompetitive in the Prez election,it seems to be happening anyway just in a different twist, it seems to me now that essentially only the middle of the road states matter, where as either extreme (large populated urban states on the one end and small and very rural states on the other) usually don't.

Electoral college were established more or less as a comprimise so that smaller states still get their say. on the brighter side, realignment of states usually happen every few decades anyway. so we should be pretty close to that .

...just plain votes, Romney had more...it might be a time to get rid of it, why vote when "technically" it doesn't count...
