Ok. My bad. I was referring to US territories. The only one is Hawaii, officially, that became a state most recently. But it looks like Puerto Rico could very well become a state, although it currently has a 13% unemployment rate.

In other words, you can't really come up with any land grabs of substance that even remotely resemble or equal the land grabs of real empires.
