Saw this rather incisive assessment of what is coming next on a blog:

We do not have an educated and informed electorate. The democrats understand this and know that they can identify groups, promise them something or scare them with lies and win. By mid term elections, they will have demonized Republicans to the point that they will take over the House again. It will be easy to do because Obama and the senate will not work with the house to resolve budget, taxes, etc then they will blame it on Republicans. And, sad as it is, I believe that most people won’t wake up until the Country “crashes and burns”. The Republican party doesn’t get what Obamas plan is and is seemingly unable to put anything in place to stop him. This was the chance and it is gone.

To this I would add that by the end of Obama's second term, the Supreme Court will be packed with people who could care less about the Constitution or the rule of law.
