    Now here's the good news

Ok, so, not great news for the Presidential race. That's fine with me, wasn't expecting any.

Here's what I see as great news:

    - Colorado and Washington legalize pot

    - Maryland becomes the first state to legalize same sex marriage via ballot-- and it looks like the same goes for Washington, too soon to call for Minnesota.

    - South Dakota voted down a sales tax increase

    - Massachusetts legalized marijuana for medical uses

None of this is going to fix the fiscal cliff we are approaching or makes it more likely that we'll ever return to a Constitutionally limited government, but they are a few small victories, for me at least.

So homosexuals and potheads won... How does that help America in the end? Just wondering... Think Rome, burning, and dying... Or think utopia, without $#@!s like me... Oddly I think either result would please you... I'll pack...

Like I said in the OP, it doesn't solve our major issues, but progress in liberty is progress.

Forgot to add that my state elected the first openly gay Senator. That's cool. I don't like her politics much, didn't vote for her, but I didn't like the other guy either.

What freedom? More thoughtlessness? Less comprehension? (Sorry don't know you, so I'm speaking potheads here...) Gay marriage is the least of victories, in comparison to their defeats, and then it goes to the USSC, and does anyone still trust them???? I see no victories, just new questions....

I gather then you think the war on drugs is working?

There are thousands of things we can put in our bodies that will shorten our lives or injure us. Would you criminalize McDonald's?

The war on drugs has been a massive waste of resources. A lessor nation would have collapsed over such a folly.

...come on, there are those on our side that think being "civilized" is a good thing...and what's the epitome of "civilization"?...Rome and Greece and both of them were OK with pedophilia...

Freedom and less government is a very good thing in our current climate...it's a rare treat and should be celebrated. I'm with you KC.

Exactly. As freedom becomes more and more popular, it gives me hope that someday we might have a viable party that stands for both social and economic freedom-- the best of both worlds.

Look, like I said, I don't know you, personally, I'm all about Utopian anarchy. Lets do that... Reality isn't there, because $#@!s like me realize at some point we need some limits. First, recap that nuclear genie, put that $#@! back in the bottle... Next, getting all our sheep to stop relying on government, that's on us, are we ready? I am. I'll take care of my own, either with or without government, that's just me, but is society ready? NO, they aren't... Sadly its too much work to make all freedom lovers happy, so we have to deal with what is. More sadly, and this isn't meant offensively, but libertarians don't get that yet... I'm all for what you want, but reality is the shield there, idealism falls short in comparison...
