I got the onions, potatoes garlic and peas planted. I’m going to wait another two weeks or so to plant the rest of garden. Beans, beets, cucumbers, radishes and carrots. In May I’ll plant some tomato plants, but only a few.

    Jealous.

Just starting the seeds here in MI but in the next week or so, I will have the Kale, Tomato's, Peppers, Mid April the Broccoli Cauliflower, squash, and always start a few stalks of Corn so I can have a little Corn Early, they are already poking through the soil.

My peas, onions and potatoes are all growing well. If we have a late frost, they won’t be hurt by that.

I’ve mostly been prepping the soil for planting. Removing the weeds which grew over the winter. Weeds don’t stop growing here.

We went to a master gardeners show recently. There was an expert talking about soil issues. I asked him about the mysterious development of rocks. We till the garden about 16 inches deep every year. We remove as many rocks as possible. The top of the ground will be free of rocks. Two weeks later there are rocks all over the place. I asked how does this continually happen?

He told me that we have so many small unnoticed earthquakes that they gradually force the smaller rocks up to the surface, so like weeds it’s a never ending battle. The wind carries weeds and the shaking earth gives us rocks to deal with.
