I hate clients that go to the press. It's bad litigation strategy. I want it all run through me.
No one wants to look like an idiot with a client that goes against legal advice when it suits them or just goes and contradicts public statements made on the client's behalf. Trump's reputation in that regard precedes him so he has no one to blame but himself if he ends up with 2nd or 3rd tier representation. He also has a reputation for having to be sued for fees if he decides he didn't get the outcome that he wanted from anyone with whom he contracted for a service. Generally, he has lost those cases because often the fault was his own. Kasowitz is undoubtedly on a replenishing retainer since Trump has been in perpetual litigation for decades. His counsel probably doesn't care whether the lawsuits have merit or not. It's a steady income.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

I don't know -- has he ever sued or need sued over legal fees / representation?

Not likely. The last bill you want to not pay is a legal fee bill.

This "not paying bills" meme seems to be based off dislike for aggressive business tactics.

let's see...if you guys hadn't taken your shots, he wouldn't need any lawyers. You guys are just trying to tie him up, but he's ignoring you and moving ahead. You're the one stuck in the past.

a couple of years ago, I sued the neighbor for encroaching with his fencing. They hired a high price lawyer while I went pro se. They won the property, but the judge denied that I pay for their lawyer. They didn't pay, and the lawyer sued them in court for double and prevailed.
They still did not pay, so he went after their property. They finally paid up, but it cost them about 5000 bucks to get 750 sq. ft.

The biggest issue is that Trump says whatever he wants and whenever he wants, which is not an ideal characteristic in a client.
