An incisive discussion of the election

And from a source I usually don't pay much attention to because for the most part, he's a bloviator. But I think he really makes some good sense here.

    http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/20...nta_claus_wins

Now, everybody is jumping on Romney's chain today, getting in his chili. Look, he may have not been the most optimal candidate, but he's a fine man. He would have been great for this country. Mitt Romney and his family would have been the essence of exactly what this country needs. But what was Romney's recipe? Romney's recipe was the old standby: American route to success, hard work. That gets sneered at. I'm sorry. In a country of children where the option is Santa Claus or work, what wins? And say what you want, but Romney did offer a vision of traditional America. In his way, he put forth a great vision of traditional America, and it was rejected. It was rejected in favor of a guy who thinks that those who are working aren't doing enough to help those who aren't. And that resonated.
He successfully painted Romney's policies as caring primarily about the rich. He successfully convinced roughly half the country that his policies will favor the middle class. Now, measure that against reality. The reality is that the economy of this country is crumbling. The unemployment situation is worsening. The debt situation is worsening. Everything for the very people who think Obama's gonna help them is getting worse, and yet they told the exit poll people that they thought Obama's the best guy to handle Obamacare.
A majority of people like Obamacare in the exit poll. That goes against everything we've ever heard in any poll. Voters trust him more than Romney in an international crisis. What? How in the world can that be? In a rational, intelligent world, how can that be? "He's running very strong with African-Americans, Latinos, and women. If he wins, this data will be consistent with stories about the changing nature of US demographics."
This last big I think agrees with Cigar's contention that the old demographics are dead. What the Cigars of the world don't realize is that it was the old demographics that created the prosperity that the new demographic has lived on and the latter isn't about to continue that prosperity because they have neither the work ethic or the principles that made it happen: Self reliance and personal responsibility.

Not to pick on you personally Cigar but you really do exemplify how the new demographic thinks and operates. You live off of government contracts handed to you on the basis of racial preference. You work so little for that money, taken from others, that you have time to spend hours of every work day posting cartoons and one liners on a message board. In traditional America, you would either shape up and really work for your pay or you would be on the street. In Obama's America, you are richly rewarded for being, putting it bluntly, a parasite.

The new demographic is really all about taking what others have. And that, my friends, is why the country is toast, at least the part of it that dominated this election. It is not toast because Barack Obama got re-elected, it is toast because the new majority demographic of America would elect, and then re-elect a Barack Obama regardless of the actual failure of what he is doing. And in doing so, they are rapidly destroying the goose that laid the golden egg. Ironically, mostly for themselves as our generation and older have lived our lives and mostly retired in far greater prosperity than you will see. If you get to retire at all.

He's right. O'Reilly made a similar point last night and I feel the same way about O'Reilly that you do about Limbaugh.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Rush Limbaugh generally makes good points.
I blame Obama's win on Hurricane Sandy, which is another good point Bill O'Reilly made.

Obama really appeared to reach across the aisle, and that's what people want to see in a time of gridlock.

I blame Romney. He was far too nice. When he was attacked he should have attacked back, but he isn't like that because he is too much of Mr. Nice Guy. Obama spewed lies and Romney accepted them. So he changed his mind a few times...who doesn't, but the Left has a tactic of attacking...putting their opponent on the defensive and keeping him there. You can't win a game on defense alone. You also have to have an offense.

Obama screwed the pooch many times in the last four years and he will continue to do so. Congress just has to watch his ass closely and be ready to pounce like Gingrich did on Clinton...be relentless.

Let's not speak too negatively about Clinton. Remember, Clinton worked with Gingrich eventually and they got things done. If Obama needs to look at anything to start his 2nd term, it ought to be Clinton's 2nd term, because if he could work with the Republicans they might be able to pull America through to 2016.

I was speaking about Gingrich and how he held on tight when attacking him. Gingrich knows how to be a street fighter...Romney is strictly Queensberry Rules and when sucker-punched, he had no counter.

There was an interesting discussion on NPR this morning on how the GOP will consider immigration reform more seriously considering that this may be the only way the GOP can regain and/or maintain any semblance of representation at this juncture.

I agree with a lot of the 2 paragraph synopsis by Mr. Limbaugh above, believe Romney should not have played it safe in the last two debates, especially the final one.. there were just too many false claims made by President Obama that Governor Romney let go and he did not respond to correct the record as was done in the first debate. that stated, am not sure it would have mattered.. although the voting margin was close in most of the supposed swing states, almost all of those states were won by the President.. all night long President Obama had the ball and the lead.
