    In a Nation of Spoiled Brats you can't beat Santa Claus

    http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/20...nta_claus_wins

    Now, everybody is jumping on Romney's chain today, getting in his chili. Look, he may have not been the most optimal candidate, but he's a fine man. He would have been great for this country. Mitt Romney and his family would have been the essence of exactly what this country needs. But what was Romney's recipe? Romney's recipe was the old standby: American route to success, hard work. That gets sneered at. I'm sorry. In a country of children where the option is Santa Claus or work, what wins? And say what you want, but Romney did offer a vision of traditional America. In his way, he put forth a great vision of traditional America, and it was rejected. It was rejected in favor of a guy who thinks that those who are working aren't doing enough to help those who aren't. And that resonated.

    The Obama campaign was about small stuff. War on Women, binders, Big Bird, this kind of stuff. The Romney campaign was about big things, was about America.

    ~~~~~~
    One of the greatest misunderstandings in this country, if you boil all this down, is what creates prosperity. The Romney campaign was essentially about that, and the Romney campaign was devoted to the traditional American view and history -- vision, as well -- of what creates prosperity. The old capitalism, the old arguments of hard work, stick-to-itiveness, self-reliance, charity, helping out in the community.
    All of these things that define the traditional institutions that made this country great, that's what the Romney campaign was about. It was rejected. That way, or that route to prosperity was sneered at. That route to prosperity was rejected. The people who voted for Obama don't believe in it. They don't think it's possible. They think the game's rigged. They think the deck is stacked against them.
    They think that the only way they're gonna have a chance for anything is if somebody comes along and takes from somebody else and gives it to them. Santa Claus! And it's hard to beat Santa Claus. Especially it's hard to beat Santa Claus when the alternative is, "You be your own Santa Claus." "Oh, no! I'm not doing that. What do you mean, I have to be my own Santa Claus? No, no. No, no, no. I want to get up every day and go to the tree. You're the elves," meaning us.
    ~~~~~~

    There is no rising to responsibility. There is no accepting responsibility. There's just a demand that the gravy train continue, and we have an administration that's promising an endless gravy train. All you have to do to stay on that gravy train is vote. But it doesn't matter.The thing that's mind-boggling is that there is no new prosperity in America. There is no improved standard of living. It's all going down. "But Obama cares. He really cares! He cares much more than Romney. He really, really cares. In fact, he cares so much, we're gonna give him a do-over. We're gonna give him a second term to do what we know he wanted to do in the first term but wasn't able to for whatever reason."

    In the blizzard of statistics and jetsam and flotsam bandied about this past year it was admitted by even leftwing journalists that about forty-five percent of the nation pays for the other fifty-five percent one way or the other or to some degree at least. That's how a nation becomes socialist, and once Obama is done with us -- despite everything that a Republican House of Representatives can do to hold the line -- this nation will be well down the road of becoming Greece with national bankruptcy in our future.

    Why? The old value systems that made it possible to build this nation are now mocked and reviled by leftwingers who would not be where they are today if someone hadn't done all the hard work for them in the first place. So it goes.

    I don't think Romney is to blame entirely for Obama winning and I don't think it's fair for the party to turn on him. I think that there are some members of the GOP that continually displayed behaviour that slowly eroded Romney's campaign, especially among key demographics. Instead of being able to focus on his campaign strategy, which was essentially to highlight the failures of Obama's economic policies, he was continually having to apologize for actions and words of other Republicans. The attention kept being put back on social issues, and even though I'll argue til I'm blue in the face that abortion is not the only issue that matters to women, I think other Republicans like Akin and Mourdock ruined his overall campaign strategy. Especially considering the whole Supreme Court noms coming up - I think some of the extreme statements made motivated people to vote more on social issues than they would have without the distractions.

    I think the GOP failed Romney, not the other way around.

    I respectfully disagree. What we have witnessed is a shift in demographics. The majority now longer believe in the Constitution, in federalism, in a limited federal government. We are set up to spend ourselves into oblivion. Might as well enjoy it. After the crash nobody will be able to collect on debt.

    Americans always rally at the eleventh hour. It's only 10 o'clock.

    Btw, my son told me this yesterday: His friend Brian lost his part time job the day after the election. He had a talk with his boss, who is a reasonable man and Brian understood. His boss said hard times are coming and to stay in business, he has to cut employees and do more with less. Poor Brian - nice kid, worked hard.

    And so it goes.

    Napolitano supposedly has a great article on this. If Napolitano is correct and i seem to think he is, Romney is not at fault other than he represents that part of america that Obama intends to milk for the sake of his voting base. The pigs at the trough who have come to the realization that Franklin/Jefferson/Madison (2 out of those three) said would happen when the constituency realizes that they can vote themselves more and more at the expense of those who do the work and pay the taxes. We have witnessed the ObamaPromised fundamental change of America before our very eyes...and they're not even smart enough to protect the Golden Goose who happens to be the ones who provide their government haul. They want to eat them. And neither do they possess nor comprehend the characteristics and attitudes of our founders, ancestors, grandparents or parents regardingt freedom, hardwork, liberty, self reliance, respect for life. We are being ruled by the pigs at the trough and their leader, the head Hog. Here's hoping he can control them long term. They are our masters now.

    The Obama campaign didn't defeat Liberty.
    We haven't lost.
    They just ran a better campaign.
    GOP, are you listening?
    Do you see?
