    Some post-election thoughts

As a recovering election-night junkie, I have a few thoughts as to what happened just last night; to wit:

    (1) The actual electorate turned out to be different than I had expected. For instance, it was only 72 percent white, as opposed to 74 percent white (as it was in 2008). Since non-white voters heavily favored President Obama, this was a pretty big deal.

    (2) Although there was certainly not the same degree of enthusiasm, among Obama voters, that existed four years ago, the Democratic ground game did a superb job of getting (rather lukewarm) constituents to the polls--many of them for early voting. This, too, was enormous.

    (3) Gov. Romney offered a most gracious concession speech, in my opinion. Considering that President Obama had referred to the former governor, during the campaign, as just about everything but the second coming of Adolf Hitler, Gov. Romney was far more gracious than I could have been, under similar circumstances.

    (4) The changing composition of the American electorate will doubtless exacerbate the (inevitable) battle between those who value power most (and therefore wish to make some major compromises) and those who value principle most (and therefore do not wish to do any such thing).

    Just my own post-election thoughts...

Essentially Hispanics and Asians gave Obama the election -- with some help from college youths. They are now the demographic that must be wooed in order to gain the presidency. It will be easy for Republicans to peel off the Asian vote as they do tend toward conservatism anyway. But still they will need to be directly addressed for their votes. Hispanics are more difficult since we have the borders issue and because they BELIEVE leftwing propaganda that Republicans are all racists. So the GOP has some real work to do there.

On the other hand if they do succeed in peeling off the Asians then they don't need anymore of the Hispanic vote than they normally get anyway . . . about one third. It makes for an interesting political equation.

Actually the college youth vote is the easiest one of all to win over. All they care about is fashion. Not so very long ago it was fashionable [in the 1980s] for them to embrace materialism and conservatism. Now they are socialistic-minded liberals. If one convinces them that it's fashionable to become conservatives again then that's the direction they will jump. They don't call youth callow for nothing.

Those who understand that America has a limited federal government are now in the minority. We will morph into something European. The American experiment is dead.

Once I internalize the need that you people need for government programs to micromanage your lives, I will have lots of draconian solutions. And you will like it, because you voted for it. Get ready to get in shape you lousy out of shape pieces of crap. A State run boot camp is about to start and I am in charge..... You silly statists are about to pass out from extreme physical fitness being imposed on you, as you voted for.

The vindication of Pat Buchanan is overdue. His demographic warnings went unheeded but what he predicted has come to pass. ow the changes among whites themselves are a major factor as I said yesterday but Pat was right. The GOP establishment was wrong.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Bull Shit; I made those predictions way before Pat.

Yes, I think we can agree with Cigar that the new demographic has arrived. Since they are both living off the wealth the old demographic created while not carrying themselves, let alone creating the wealth they will need to live out their lives in any semblance of the prosperity the old demographic created, it is going to be interesting to watch what they do when the proverbial chickens come home to roost and the progressive poverty really starts to bite.
