A few Pics From this Weekend

I judged a horse show over the weekend and took a few pictures after the event. On Saturday afternoon, friends and I ran over to Mexico to pick up a few drugs before I headed home. It was hot as hell, but fun.

    Seven Up

This horse had an interesting story. He is now owned by the young lady riding him, but his back story is that her grandmother (an old friend of mine) rescued him off a slaughter truck headed to the Mexican processing plant. He was thin as hell, scared, and headed for a cruel end (research the kill process in Mexico if you are interested- horrible) when she bought him off the truck. He's a sweetheart and though hot, takes care of the grand daughter, no matter what.

I love horses. The idea of killing them for food makes me feel the same as killing dogs for food. They are inextricably tied to human success. Their service to humanity should be rewarded.

I agree. But unfortunately here in the U.S., there are people who don't research pedigrees, etc. and will breed to a horse b/c it's a pretty color vs. correct confirmation and future use. Seven -Up is one of the lucky ones; sadly, my friend couldn't afford to purchase the entire trailer load.
The fate of dogs in some Asian countries is equally horrendous, but I think the U.S. also has a terrible stray animal problem that needs to be addressed too.

Too many people are allowed to have animals that they don't deserve. As a result, they treat them like objects instead of animals who have become imprinted on humans. We created that imprinting and too many don't understand that it is a mutual bond. We have drifted too far from nature and have forgotten who we are.

    Those are fantastic pics.
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

Great pics all around! I didn't have the guts to google Mexican horse slaughtering though. I don't need that kind of rage in me today.

Ha! I'm not as limber as I used to be, so have to settle on taking photos. Thanks for the compliment!
