    Yes. They could have the largest economy in the world. That is not the issue. Debt is the issue. And the ability to repay it. For many states the trigger is state pension plans. They have been chronically underfunded and now the chickens have come home to roost.

    The public sector unions hold us hostage, striking if they don't get their every whim. Politicians promise to endorse their demands in exchange for their vote.
    Public sector unions should be done away with--they should get no more pay/benefits than the median private sector employee gets. The government demands bidding wars for capital projects, but seem ok with shoveling money to unions for votes. Corrupt!!

    I say never to using federal tax dollars to bail Cali or any other state out.

    That is unconstitutional.
