It isn't - warfare has changed - that's been proven in an increasing manner during every failed war we've fought Vietnam until now.

It's all about covert ops, better intel, high tech weaponry such as drones and highly trained special forces.

Tanks, bombs and boots on the ground as we attempt these grand social experiments and wait for people to throw flowers at our feet?

Meh - didn't go well in the middle east.

Nope, they still love the smell of napalm in the morning ;-)

Time to move into the 21st century - at least 3/4 of the military bases we maintain around the world could be shut down saving billions.

But they think entitlement spending is a smarter target.

The investment in Medicaid pays for itself.

You want to look into waste, fraud and abuse .. fine
Actually no... Those of us not retired are paying for your SS and Medicaid because they are both defunct, socialized entitlement programs... If they weren't the debt wouldn't be increasing on those programs...

I do remember saying that national defense is a requirement. I know that cutting defense in half will not make us safer.

They are paying for others just as we had to do because every month when those funds hit the coffers in DC they are diverted to the general fund where they buy more military among other things but NOT what they were collected for.

Just asking, 66% of the military budget goes to Operations, Maintenance and Personnel, only 20% goes to buying new anything so when we cut the budget in half, how do you plan on Paying people? Training people? Maintaining equipment? conducting any operations? that is what 2/3ds of the budget goes to.

What part of CUT escapes you? Cut personnel, cut excessive training, use your resources more efficiently just as in any other business.
