Cut that hair son! You're scaring the women and children!hehe
In state prisons you have CM or controlled management for the most incorrigibles, every 6 months the inmates gets a hearing to determine if they will be released into general pop. If they had the most minor infraction, see you in 6 more months. It is not uncommon for some to be their years or even a decade or better.

It's use is to common, but for the very worst, it is about the only option, some lifers enjoy it and if let out will assault a CO just to go back "home"

And we lecture countries on human rights lol.

At least in fl (granted my last time in confinement was 2007) you are being to generous (but I doubt it has changed)

You must be confined for 3o days before you get 2 hours of "rec" time a week, in a large dog kennel. Whoopi, you can do push ups and stuff.

You get 3 showers a week, for about 5 minutes. Of course you are cuffed thru a hole in the door(same one chow trays come and go thru)before the door ever opens.

When it comes to matters of confinement, consider me TPF's "inside source" lol !

I'm just going off of my experience when I worked as a Deputy in the local jail before I went out on the streets. Most states and counties operate in a fairly similar manner.

Yes and no, the state prisons are kinda different. Security protocols very similar? Sure!

But there are differences between state and county lock ups. I wish I could not argue this with you.

But I have done a "tour of FL" between multiple facilities.

I here in other states they will hire re formed ex-cons. Not that I would want the job, but I would not need much training. Let the sallyport door slam shut and it would come rushing back.

And # 4 CM the worst of the worst.

Interestingly, at least in FL they have PM units or protective management for people who would otherwise be in PC long term. It is just like Open pop. but the main compound must be isolated on their units when PM moves on the main compound. I think the courts mandated it's existence. PM units are mostly ex cops, snitches and child molesters.
I recognize the need for solitary in its many forms and reasons, but it is inhumane to hold someone in that manner for long. The prison system in Canada will need to develop a better way of punishing someone for bad behavior and of protecting inmates that are at high risk from other prisoners. It might take some money and some planning, but just because it will be hard is not a reason to go on treated prisoners cruelly.

Some are so incorrigible there really is no other option.

It will be interesting seeing them try. My guess is the worst of the worst will have an exception made for them.
