The swooning frenzy over the choice of Barack Obama as President of the United States must be one of the most absurd waves of self-deception and swirling fantasy ever to sweep through an advanced civilisation. At least Mandela-worship – its nearest equivalent – is focused on a man who actually did something.

I really don’t see how the Obama devotees can ever in future mock the Moonies, the Scientologists or people who claim to have been abducted in flying saucers. This is a cult like the one which grew up around Princess Diana, bereft of reason and hostile to facts.

I pointed that very same thing to Obama worshipers back in 2008 on a huge, commercially operated, political forums system, which was roughly split between conservatives and liberals.

Mind you these were foam at the brain pan Obama groupies who would have sold off their first born child just to get a smile from the Anointed One . . . and yet even when I pointed out to them that they were eschewing Hillary Clinton [who was much more politically seasoned and Bill Clinton trained] for a first term U.S. senator with no meaningful national level experience or history of management or leadership skills . . . they flatly denied that there was any faddism at all in their political mania, even as they had Obamagasm over their political rock star. It was amazing.
