Le Pen Moves Into Lead in French Race, Le Monde Poll Shows

This does not bode well for the globalists who control the EU. The question will be what percentage of the votes each party gets. If one party doesn't have a mandate they will have to form a coalition with other parties in order to form a government.

Marine Le Pen is gaining support in France and has taken the lead in a major survey of voters’ intentions for the first round of the presidential election.

The populist leader of the National Front had between 25 percent and 26 percent support compared with 23 percent to 25 percent for Republican candidate Francois Fillon, according to an Ipsos Sopra Steria poll for Cevipof and Le Monde.

In mid December, Fillon led with about 28 percent and Le Pen around 25 percent.
Since the election of Donald Trump as U.S. president on Nov. 8, the French race has been closely-watched as another crucial battle between populist and establishment forces. Under the French electoral system, the two leading candidates face each other in a run-off vote on May 7, presenting a significant hurdle to Le Pen. The poll didn’t include data for the second-round vote.

European Commissioner Pierre Moscovici, a French Socialist, said in Davos Thursday that there’s little chance of Le Pen securing the broad support needed for victory.

Brexit, Trumpslide. Next up France, Italy and Germany have elections.

    Nationalism is 2-0 against globalism.

Is it really nationalism, or is it populism?

It's too bad that son of a coked-out pervert won in Canada.

Those terms are used interchangeably in the press. They tend to use populism because many people hear the word nationalism and wet the bed because they think it means something that it does not.

In any event it shouldn't shock that an outsider to the status quo moved a bit in the polls. On the one hand its not even close to a plurality but Hollande's socialist management skills managed to bring thr French economy to nearly 10% unemployment. This is what happens when government spends more than 50% of GDP. You mire the country in the torpor of the upper reaches of the social market economy. And then, shocker, it doesn't work well. And they're coming to that realization now. Throw in Syrian refugees and two nasty terrorist attacks on French soil and voila Le Pen polls more favorably than he otherwise would.
