Nine years ago, this was the message from the republican majority.
Then "Americans for Prosperity" (aka The Koch Brothers) upped their game and started pumping countless (literally, we have no idea how much) dollars into republican candidates' pockets. They invented the "No Climate Tax" pledge, and they instructed their tea party to alienate republican candidates who didn't dismiss climate change as a hoax.
This is how you convince people to ignore facts and embrace faith-based opinion.
Now we have congresspeople who claim that climate change is anti-God, and tell us that God has put minerals on this planet to be used without regulation. Throw in a bit of God-fearing American patriotism, and you can get the republican base to go along with anything you tell them.
This is exactly the kind of dangerous rhetoric we were trying to get away from during the Bush administration. This or that is "in-American" and therefore, you have swayed public opinion.
PEOPLE DON'T $#@!ING THINK.
Money will never defeat tyranny, it will only feed it.
