    Not to mention Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah, which all have names of Spanish origin.

    Actually Utah wouldn't fit into that one, it comes from Native Americans of the Ute tribe. But yes your point still stands.

    There seems to be some controversy on that subject. Some sources say it is derived from the Spanish designation for the Ute people, yuta. Six of one half a dozen of the other.
