    The Book of Revelation

There are, of course, four basic methods of interpretation (and an almost infinite variety of specific interpretations under each), as regarding the Book of Revelation: the poetic method (which is typically favored by more liberal theologians); the preterist method; the continuous historical (or historicist) method (which was favored by the Reformers); and the futurist method (which is favored by most televangelists).

I tend more toward the preterist method—although I am not altogether sure that I could explain the "Battle of Armageddon"—unless the reference is simply to the destruction of Jerusalem (including the Temple), around AD 70.

    Thoughts?

I think the destruction of the Second Temple sums it up.
