Well, you misinterpret why they were moved around, but your criticism is fair. Nonetheless, some did, but not to the extent that RCC did. Some beat their victims physically into silence. Make no mistake, what some in the RCC did was absolutely horrendous, unforgivable, and evil. It is something that I have been involved in fighting for a long time. My points, I guess were: It's not something to joke about; and, it wasn't just the RCC.

    no, i didn't

    i misinterpret nothing

the church didn't give a $#@! about the victims, they just wanted to keep it covered up

the pedophiles weren't moved out of pastoral roles; they were shifted to new parishes and given new pools of victims to abuse.

and *mom, the other kids did it too* is no defense

To be fair, recent reforms and the current Pope are working to make these truths a thing of the past. At least that's what the official press releases state. Who knows if there have been serious efforts or are they just more agile in covering for the guilty priests?

i think that they are serious about cleaning it up now

that isn't much solace to the thousands of children whose abuse was abetted by the catholic hierarchy

it shouldn't be a surprise that if one of the job requirements is sexual deviancy (abstinence, which has no basis in theology) that sexual deviants are going to be part of the workforce.

I've heard that celibacy became a mandate long ago to protect church real estate and assets. The priests were gaining too much personal wealth and the Vatican didn't want it bequeathed to surviving spouses and their family.

What does abstinence have to do with pederasty?
