Liberal Legal Scholar Scoffs At Claims Donald Trump Jr. Guilty Of Treason

Liberal constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley laid to rest many of the claims Tuesday from the media and politicos of illegality and collusion surrounding Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a “Kremlin-connected” lawyer.
Turley, a legal scholar at George Washington University, batted away claims of criminality, asking “does any of this constitute a clear crime or even a vague inkblot image of a crime?” His answer: no, not on the facts.
Richard Painter, a former ethics lawyer in President George W. Bush’s administration, said on MSNBC Sunday that the meeting “borders on treason.” Turley notes the specificity of Article III of the Constitution’s delineation of what exactly constitutes treason — “levying war against [the United States], and “providing aid and comfort to the enemy.” Aside from the fact that the details discussed at the meeting — if any at all —regarding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are unknown, the encounter does not amount to treason.

"Not on the facts"? Facts? Facts have little to do with politics or national leadership or how nations behave. Neither does empirical or real world evidence, lessons learned from past failures or the people's wishes.

Most people with a brain can come to that conclusion. Doesn't take a scholar.

18 U.S. Code § 2381 - TreasonWhoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
Not quite there yet, but getting closer and closer.

I'm thinking that's where we end up when all is said and done. It all depends what, if anything, was promised to Putin in exchange for his help. IMHO of course.

He is correct, the meeting was not Treason, and collusion is an if'y thing when it comes to any real criminal charges, it would require strong evidence of a crime being committed and at this point that evidence has not been presented.
That said, this is probably just the beginning and the SP investigation is just now getting ramped up and what they may or may not have found out up to this point is unknown to the most. The damage to the trump administration is obvious because once again we have another member of the trump administration involved with the Russians, and why the investigation will continue until all the truth comes out. With someone not within the family it is totally acceptable to believe trump knew nothing about any of these matters, but when it comes to Family I doubt anything was done or said without his knowledge, that is simple common sense.
So, while it is highly doubtful that there will be any charges based on what we have learned so far, thing is
he evidence keeps mounting that there is an obvious connection between the Russians and the trumps and as such the investigations will continue, we shall see what comes next.

Liberal (enough for Bo-4) or not both are correct.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

This is ongoing evidence of the coup attempt. The left media and the Democratic Party are this nation's most dangerous enemies.

The Democrats are overplaying their hand and people are dismissing them. Most people are concerned about the real issues which effect their life.

Implosion followed by a complete reconstruction of the party is probably the best thing for them at this point.
