I'm curious @GrassrootsConservative, why you think John McCain is a libertarian old fart? He came off as very interventionist to me, and he even supported giving people a tax credit to pay for health insurance.
Rand's too young as his father's too old.

McCain, a libertarian!?!?!?! He's a moderate. Palin was somewhat tea party libertarian.

That's what I thought about McCain, but I'm still awaiting some reason why GRC thinks he's libertarian.

Also, Rand's only two years younger than our current President, and I think he'd do a much better job. I really want to support candidates who will speak openly against the NDAA and drones though, so that's part of my reason for liking him.

Maybe he meant McCain's liberal. :-D

Our current prez is too young and inexperienced, among other things.

Sorry, I meant progressive, actually. Libertarian would be a godsend and I had it on my mind because I was originally going to talk about Rand Paul.

That makes sense. I'm not sure I'd put him the progressive camp, but he wasn't really a conservative either. Like Chris said, moderate is probably the best readily available description of McCain's 2008 politics.

IMHO he's a RINO (Republican In Name Only) and really that's the way most conservatives I know described him.

But, like Romney, it's always been anyone but Obama. Obama is the great deceiver. He's a silver-tongued serpent and he's very good at persuading the ignorant.

Posted elsewhere but here's the link: When Conservatism Is a Second Language. Talks about the last 10 moderate Republican candidates for President.

Rubio fails the Constitutional eligibility test. Of course that test will be enforced against a Republican.

Forget Christie. Too many feel he stabbed the party in the back at the most inopportune moment. Plus he is extremely unattractive physically. Even though there are a lot of fat people in America, fattest country in the world, it is still looked down on.
