Feathers, much like hair @Trish , should never be hard lined, the tatt Standing Wolf posted, is a good example. You forever to hunt a good tatt, forever to live with a mediocre one.
I have many mediocre ones as I used to professionally Tattoo, did many on my own self. People asked "why do you have crappy tats as an artist? Answer? Because I learned on me before I left my mark on you! Take your time and demand a portfolio and if you walk in and the shop does not smell clean, walk back out!
A tatt is a minor, surgical procedure.
