In recent years, many "conservatives" have come to realize what Liberals have known all along: that government power can be abused, that cops are not always your friends, and that the mantra that says, "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" is an invitation to State oppression and the institutionalized violation of citizens' Constitutional rights. If you are right, and "conservatives" are pretty much fine with having their personal information packed off to a bunch of political hacks and Trump cronies in Washington, then I guess that demographic has backslidden somewhat, and that's a shame.
