A new celestial wonder has stolen the title of most distant object ever seen in the universe, astronomers report.
The new record holder is the galaxy MACS0647-JD, which is about 13.3 billion light-years away. The universe itself is only 13.7 billion years old, so this galaxy's light has been traveling toward us for almost the whole history of space and time.

It blows my mind that by looking far enough away, we can also be looking back in time...pretty cool stuff. We may never have a time machine but just being able to see what happened 13.3 billion years ago is amazing.

Fast as light travels it still takes time to reach us in our expanding universe.

It is indeed amazing. I still feel like a lab rat trying to look outside of the aquarium. The universe is likely a microcosm when compared to what is outside of it.

I lost all faith in Atheist thought, when the static universe model was disproved.

Atheism, lack of faith, has, as such, no thought.

The universe, expanding as it is, is in effect closing the door (event horizon) on our ever knowing what exists beyond it. We can at best make educated guesses, the way say Hawkins does in The Grand Design, based on what is consistent with what is known.
