"Michigan voters rejected two union-backed efforts to amend that state’s constitution on Tuesday despite heavy spending by big labor and a largely unionized population. Government employees unions led by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) proposed two amendments to the state constitution that would have made collective bargaining a constitutional right (Proposition 2) and forced family members that care for disabled relatives into the union (Proposition 4).
The union thugs do much better when they deal just with corrupt politicians than when they have to face a public vote.
"The day after thousands of purple-shirted state workers demanding higher taxes marched through Springfield's streets, House Democrats blocked passage of an effort to protect home health care workers from forced unionization. State Rep. Jim Durkin's HR 720 is a resolution calling on Governor Quinn to rescind his Executive Order forcing home care providers -- many of which care for their own family members -- to unionize. The home health caretakers voted down union efforts last year, despite what some called "bullying tactics" on behalf of the SEIU and AFSCME." http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/il...onization.html
No wonder they are demanding a Card Check Act from their accomplices in Washington. The liberals are intent on forcing workers into unions whether they want to go or not. What are called "bullying tactics" for the unions are called extortion anywhere else in America. For years, I watched workers victimized by unions and employers who worked together...against the worker. My compliments to the people of Michigan.
