Constitution Amendment in Lousiiana Passes 73%-27%

"While national eyes were on the presidential election on Nov. 6, citizens of "Louisiana were voting on a state-constitutional amendment that made the right to keep and bear arms "a fundamental right," and put gun-grabbing judges on notice.

Titled the "Louisiana Right To Bear Arms, Amendment 2 (2012)," the amendment passed 73.45 percent to 26.55. It bolsters the exercise of 2nd Amendment rights within the state by eliminating "language within the Louisiana Constitution that would allow passage of laws prohibiting concealed weapons."
It also mandates that "any restriction of a [gun] right requires the highest standard of review by a court." In other words, it removes the ability of a judge to unilaterally implement his or her anti-gun agenda or diminish gun rights on a whim."

Some seem to think a narrow victory is a landslide. This vote in Louisiana represents what can truly be called a landslide. It does make the position of the people clear and what is just as clear is that their position is not the position taken by the liberals in Washington. Congratulations to the people of Louisiana.

No he hasn't. Anybody that has been here knows that a Cajun will invite a stranger into his house and never leave with an empty stomach.

On the contrary, cary, Louisiana is a great place to visit, been there many times. And being a state that protects fundamental natural rights makes it even more attractive.

Yep, we seem to be one o the few states left that has any sense of the constitution.

We just bolstered our 2nd amendment right.

I lived in New Orleans for 4 years as a pre-teen, when Dad was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Algiers. I went to a Catholic grade school there because at the time, my parents didn't feel the public schools offered a good enough education. I loved everything about Louisiana....Mardi Gras (which even has its attractions for kids), and fishing in the bayous particularly; fresh bayou crab and catfish was a staple on Friday nights. The only thing I hated were the heavy humidity during certain parts of the year, and the mosquitoes the size of sparrows.

I understand that the same defence is used by lunatics when their brothers and sisters hide them in the cupboards .
Ghastly people --- lunatics and "Louisianians" --- suspect the word looneys may derive from there

Has Carygrunt said anything but nonsense or personal attacks? I don't read his posts and sincerely appreciate those of you who don't quote him. Nothing he's ever said is worth quoting.

I don't need a gun but I still feel the Constitution is worth protecting from the savages.
