I know that! But still, it's Canada, for crying out loud! If I want to freeze my ass off, I will just walk in the gas station, beer case. Much closer and more beneficial!

LOL. Don't you know that some of the border cities are actually north of cities like Toronto, Windsor and Niagara Falls? They are already used to the cold and it's not cold in Canada 12 months of the year. Plus there are people with family on both sides of the border and students enrolled in school on both sides of the border, not to mention casinos, theater and sports.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

Very much aware of that, my mother immigrated there, years ago. My stepdad is native.

I suppose I would go dig for fossils, the months or so they are not covered by snow, in Southern Canada, forget it, when you hit perma frost!

Also, you could not get me out of Fl on a bet, if people want to freeze, let em!

Why is there a dislike of America and Americans in Canada just as here for Canadians. I have a niece that is treated like an, excuse the term, a $#@! in 1964 Alabama in the US while she was in Calgary during her primary school years. This bias drives my disdain towards tPF members like Common Sense who display his anti-American bias daily in his posts.

And as I mentioned before, it's a passion I've been wanting to fulfill for just about 30 years now. One of my Uber customers was an attorney herself and she told me that the amount of time that has passed, plus the job requirement IN WRITING that I have will weigh heavily in my favor in terms of granting the permit and certificate.

Now, New York Trailways hasn't done line service to Toronto since Greyhound dissolved the NeOn brand and severed the pooling agreement in 2012, but Adirondack Trailways still does regular service to Montreal via Albany. However, since I would be working for New York Trailways, I would still be doing Rochester charters into Canada.

It's my perception that most Canadians like Americans, except when they act like Canada is the 51st state or a communist country full of mentally deranged liberals. Canada, by American standards is a centrist to left-leaning nation, so they do believe more in a social safety net than do many Americans and they believe in diplomacy over war.

I can't speak to your niece's experience in Calgary. The dynamics between kids is complicated.

The laws were tightened on both sides of the border since the September 11, 2001 attacks. Do I think it's overkill? Yes I do. But I am not going to question another sovereign country's laws and their remedies. Once I get my certificate, then all issues with the border will be cleared up permanently.

When I was speaking to one of the immigration attorneys that I consulted with, he said they were not out to hurt me, but just to ensure that my presence there isn't going to be a threat. A vetting process.
