Thread: Most will likely go Ewwwww at my Dinner tonight

    Most will likely go Ewwwww at my Dinner tonight

    I had a big container of whole portabella mushrooms from Sams Club. I washed and quartered them and the really big ones got cut more.

    I sautee them in olive oil and garlic and herbs, when done I put them to the side.

    I have some left over Broccoli Raab I made yesterday.

    I will chop the mushrooms smaller, I have Portabella Crimini pasta sauce I will add the mushrooms to it. I have Mezza Rigatoni from Italy and Ill mix the broccoli raaab with the pasta and put the mushroom sauce on top.

    Zero Cholesterol tastes fantastic if your so inclined to like those ingredients and its a dirt cheap meal thats healthy for you.

    For the price unless you get a really good deal ports are over rated. I get them only if they are really marked down and in good shape.

    Then grill with chili paste.

    Saute them and then serve over steak with string beans & mashed potato's on the side makes for an excellent meal.

    Sounds good. Well except for the whole , no meat thing anyway.

    I don't anymore. You have to really know what you are eating. There are bold mycologist and old mycologist, but no old and bold mycologist.

    I once had a visit from a hoosier who really wanted to eat the trippy shrooms, on the river one day he said "look at all these shrooms I found" He had about 12 different species, none of which were the much sought after Psilocybe Cubensis. I said "don't eat any of those.

    A couple days later, he eats common lawn mushrooms and had 3 miserable days of illness, fortunately, no permanent damage.

    He went on to die of OD on the needle about one year later.

    Sams sells great ports for a damn good price, I buy them often.

    Portabellas have a great texture when roasted or sautee'd just dont cook them to death.

    As far as taste its always about the seasonings.
