Question "What do you want for Xmas?"

Here's a question I never know how to answer. I'm an independent person, not even religious, but my family does celebrate the holidays and I have to go home for Xmas. My dad and grandma have both asked what I would like, as they do every year, and I'm always stumped. I don't like to receive gifts, just as much I hate the stress that comes with the obligation of giving them, but also I obviously don't want to make people unhappy. So here's a thread I probably would never have thought myself to make, but what are you all asking for? I need some ideas.

Nothing. I'm like you in this respect. The family basically agreed to forego presents years and years ago. We still get little things for each other, I get a gift cards for local bookstore because everyone knows I like to read. I try to think of something useful (a cell phone) or just something I know others will enjoy (music CD by a well-liked artist, or book by a favorite author). Something little that says I thought about it. My son is easiest, he just wants cash.

    I usually ask for books.

I asked my parents a long time ago to just give me cash. They never bought anything I cared about.

Typically I don't need anything. During the year if I need it I just buy it. If we are talking about a gift from someone who cares for you, then it should be something meaningful. It doesn't have to be expensive and can even be hand made.

My favorite Christmas gift is a box of Chocolate covered cherries. I am easy! Or a movie! I don't need anything. I give everyone cash so they can get what they want.

I'm happy with my life as it is, but since my relatives insist, I tell them they can't go wrong with a Subway gift card. I go to Subway once a week on the road all year long. That's 52 feet of sandwiches!
