Cost of Living vs Income Per State

Just some facts to try and analyze and explain. I can't explain why MS gets a bigger bang for the buck than CA, other than everything is too expensive in CA. Nor can I explain why the Northeast and AL have higher incomes than, again, MS (note data source is 4-5 years old). I could advise moving to AL and purchasing things online from MS.

The charts do not take into account that in California housing is very expensive in a small area and the rest of the state is low income. As for the value of purchasing items Californians buy very expensive things and in the other low income states they buy mostly junk.

That is true. It's like those maps of red vs blue states where if you zoom in on counties, or even further on voting districts, America turns purple. So, yea, you'd expect cities to be costly to live in, have a wide income gap, be violent, and so on.
