Petraeus. That's what I'm saying. The Senate is the only thing that would hold him back, and I doubt they'll do it if it comes down to it.

The senate confirmation just takes a simple majority, the Dems have the majority, they're in if the Dems agree.

Everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room - Hillary. During the election Obama had one of those 'dear in the headlights' moments when asked about CMrs. Clinton staying on. The was a public indication, in the middle of an election, that support costs and the cost of Billary's was SOSUS.
So, if Rice comes in? As in Condie Rice.....ummmm, there would be, shall we say, a severe ripple if now tsunami in the party and culminating in the Senate. And remember who owns that Senate: Bill and Hillary.

I don't think POTUS wants to play in that sandbox unless he's got a much more rewarding sandbox for the Clintons.
