No. He doesn't paint them as "greedy and selfish". This is merely how you and your ilk describe Obama's stance on letting the Bush tax-cuts expire for those making $250,000 or more. I'm sure that some of those rich guys aren't greedy, and i'm just as sure that others are. I'm also sure that all of them can afford to survive the end of those tax-cuts.

While I, obviously, do not agree with the views of many of you, I am impressed, and gladdened to see that no one on this forum is so ignorant, childish, or hateful that they have seen fit to jump on this "take our toys, and run away from home" insanity.

Though I rarely agree with you, Czernobog, I do see a lot of merit in what you had to say (without the namecalling). I, too, served my country, and I DON'T want to see it sliced and diced....not physically, and not economically. I think the consequences down the road might be waaaaay too costly in exchange for the benefits gained. I have read several OPs that ventured opinions that most states filing petitions for secession (with a couple of exceptions) are really only doing so in order for the federal government to wake the hell up and realize that several current procedures and laws must change, and now. I hope that is the case. If even one state secedes, it will be a sad day for America. Anyway, thanks for posting your opinion.

But, demonizing "those people" is what the left is all about. The secession petitions are obviously symbolic but the destruction of the country is not symbolic. The destruction of the Constitution is not symbolic.

Countries are not defined by geography, although that is a factor. They are defined by culture and shared values. The truth of it is that the left coasts do not share the same values as the heartland, nor are they likely to do so. Because of the peculiarities of electoral mapping, they are forcing their values on the rest of us. I'm ready to part company with them. The "United" States are not united and unlikely to become so, any more than the now defunct Soviet Union. Things are not going to turn around with the country being run off the east coast from a city of insular leftists and polite thieves.

There comes a time in the affairs of man when you have to face reality. The reality is, this isn't a country anymore. It is two very different cultures, one of which is forcing itself on the other.

Our money is not "toys", we do not wish to share it with you and if we want to take our money out of the union then we have a right to secede. You do not wish to meet the demands of the people or respect the constitution, therefor some people are going to leave. If you want to change the country from the fundamentals, then you can't expect everyone to go along, there's going to be ramifications, sorry, that's the way it is.

Well now this is interesting. The party of "fuck the Constitution" is calling us Constitution haters? Tell me, where in the constitution does it say that our government must provide healthcare? Where does it say that the incumbent party can have murals and posters inside polling places during election periods?
Where does it say that our government can tax the fuck out of anyone who makes a profit and "give it back to the people" in the form of cell phones for minorities in battleground states?

Actually, GRC, the reference was the constitution as a "flexible" document, which is pretty much the same thing as "fuck it, we won, you lost." And that, unfortunately, is where lies the foundation of failure of the entire program. Note that in the above referenced "Animal Farm" it was the pigs who got to live in the nice warm house.
As a flexible document, Obama has proven himself what he is, a cheap ward healer, tossing out brightly wrapped toys for the masses so that they adore him.

Let's face it. Entitlements are ugly. But they work; votes can and are bought, often for as little as a cell phone and at one time for the cost of whiskey; why do you think most states banned bar openings until after the polls closed?
