Cool Diversity is here ... and here to stay

Though Congress remains whiter, older, and more male than the nation as a whole, the incoming class will be the most diverse in history.

The 113th Congress will be more representative of the United States from race to religion, and from gender to sexual orientation. It will look more like America with 4 new African American representatives, 10 new Latinos, 5 new Asian Americans and 24 women in the House or Senate.*

It will believe more like America with the first two Hindu congresspeople, the first Buddhist senator, and the first non-theist to openly acknowledge her belief prior to getting elected. It will love more like America, with 4 new LGBT congresspeople or senators, including the first openly bisexual congresswoman and the first openly gay congressman of color. And it will be younger, with four new congressmen born in the 1980s.

Why are you so concerned with what Congress looks like?
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Cigar, why are you so prejudiced that you feel the need to clump our politicians into groups based on gender, sexuality, race and religion? If I were a minority I would be deeply offended that you want to segregate me based on things I cannot change.

What you tryin' to do, take us back to the 1800s? You tryin' to put blacks back in chains, Mr. Biden?

You think that's not about voting race and race alone?

Ever heard this quote by Martin Luther King Jr?

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Will you please quit judging people based on their skin color?

It is true that only whites vote based on the issues in large numbers. It's tribal with blacks and Hispanics.

Not that that is a smart thing for whites to be doing.

To whom are you speaking if I may ask?

Those of us who actually live near/among $#@!es have already experienced the "content of their character" and often find it sorely lacking.
