Some are using dish soap and hot water I take it the next step is some kind of gun oil/preservative.
I have heard people talk about that, I thought it was a joke or something.

I just cannot imagine myself, up to my elbows is hot soapy water, scrubbing my rifle.

Hell no! All of my stuff is expensive. I'd be in bed at night imagining I could hear the rust gremlins eating my weapons in my safe. I'm too OCD with my weapons.

When I detail strip a gun, I use Simple Green to clean it. Break it down, put all the parts in a tray, spray them with Simple Green, let them sit for a while, scrub them with a nylon bristle brush, then put them in a tub of warm water to rinse them off.

I use a hair dryer to make sure they are dry, then lube them with MPro 7 and slap them back together.

Works better than anything else I have ever used.

Thanks for that cleaning process heads-up sir. I have a Colt HBAR AR needing a good full scrub to try that on.

Nothing to add, accept what i personally do, with revolvers, I dry wipe the bore and cylinders till you get most of the heavy powder, then run patchs with hops synthetic number 9 soak the bore let it sit, then wipe down the rest of the revolver with hops then dry .

Pistols I blow out first with CLP its a good product, can use it on revolvers also.

    HBAR?

You are going to want to hold on to that. You don't see a lot of them these days. You should get what... maybe 1.5 MOA out of that? It was definitely one of the more accurate rifles ever produced by Colt. That is a good piece.

Working at the pawn shop, I see used colt pistols, demand 600+ dollars. Colts are highly regaurded.

There is a Fl company called Jiminez that the shop got a load of pistols from, 1 to 2 hundred $. They suck sooo bad, waste of $
