Assad heading for Cannes Film Festival ?

    http://www.businessinsider.com/syria...an-sea--2013-1

It is quite possible ( possible) that Arsey Assad has decamped from Damascus to live with his family on a Russian warship parked up in the Med . UPI are assuring us that this is the case and as reported by Business Insider and separately picked up my old pals at the Kavkaz monitoring desk .
If so , that definitely suggests that real US --Russia negotiations will soon produce some sort of an end to this running sore . Perhaps partition will result which will have the Neocon Elite grinding their teeth .
In this case , we should be pencilling in likely Lebanon invasion dates for later on this year .
Another relevant snippet has been contributed by Al Jazeera :-
Meanwhile, Al-Jazeera reported that the Mujahideen had seized a large arsenal of weapons at the airport Taftanaz in Idlib. That can change the military situation in Syria.

The Command of Jabhat al Nusra told Al-Jazeera that the seizure of weapons and ammunition changed the bigger picture , which would be reflected on the battlefield.

Perhaps Arsey knows that the final set is nearly over and that he is flitting in and out of the Palace more to tidy up matters than planning on defeating alQaeda . Oops , the Syrian Free Army .
This Celebrity News report has come from London -- the Home of World News .
PM me for maps of the various places mentioned in this holiday around the Middle East .

Al Bawaba is also reporting that he is on a Russian warship because he no longer trusts his security.

    He might just take it.

It would be good (for US) to break the Shiite power block from Iran to the Med via the Levant.

Can't think of better options for him . Can't think of any decent options actually .
But what will the Russians get out of it ?
They had 250 000 of their people in the country , a port and lots of trade . That horse trader Lavrov will want his pound of flesh . Solution ? Partition .
Getting rid of Shi(i)tes may be good for the US and it is one less hurdle to climb before taking highway number one into Tehran . But Russia will not allow Tehran to fall unless internal destabilisation can be made to occur . Nudge , wink . Then Russia might quickly become more pro-active , to coin a phrase .
The US plot still has many twists and turns ahead of it . imo

Partition seem like a sure fired way of causing a lot more problems down the road though, I'd guess that Kurdistan would almost cetainly be a part of the discussion, but Kurdistan could potentially include areas of current Syria / Iraq / Iran / Turkey, the odds of all 4 agreeing seems about as good as peace in the middle east.

Not to mention, once Kurdistan actually happens, the Armenian question would be brought back into view again. seeing hold those area would likely include a lot of the places that was once greater Armenia. (again)

In this day and age, these sort of border redraw seems about as unlikely to peacefully happen as it'll get.

Broadly agree . But Russia will not disappear just because Assad does . There are far greater issues at stake for them .
And if the Shiites are not "looked after" , there will be wholesale massacre which can not be countenanced . ( Though playing God , I would go blind for a time )
