To the degree that your perception, alters it, is the degree to which you live in the "matrix"
So the partisans are in the Matrix 24/7? Splains a lot!

Pretty much, it is like trying to teach a man that "knows everything".

I persisted in my questions and challenges so they took me to the nuns who took me to the priest whos answer was basically to look at my parents with sad eyes and tell them to put the Bible away where I couldn't find it. Round about then I discovered the public library and books on other religions and philosophies and I've never looked back. Parents have physical control, not intellectual.
I was gonna say I was raised Catholic and we didn't read the Bible. Presumably because the Priest/lesser God did

I think that's a major difference between Catholic and Protestant. For Catholics, the church and its hierarchy from Pope on down is the authority; for Protestants, the individual is.

I got my degree at a Jesuit run university in Milwaukee. Long story. while there, I learned a lot about Catholics and while I still maintain my eastern spirituality, I did gain some insight as to their core theological beliefs. Despite all my better judgement, I like Catholics, except those whom are $#@!s but then again, all philosophical and religious dogmas have members whom are $#@!s. The human condition.
