Viewpoints: National exit polls claim 31 percent of Arizona Latinos voted for Donald Trump. Our analysis suggests that's impossible.


National exit polls claimed that 29 percent of Latinos voted for Trump. But the polling firm Latino Decisions conducted an election-eve poll that found Trump only garnered 18 percent of the Latino vote. In Arizona, exit polls reported 61 percent of Latinos voted for Clinton and 31 percent for Trump, while Latino Decisions reported a much larger Democratic advantage of 84 to 12 percent in favor of Clinton in Arizona.


I would suggest that 12% would be considered VERY few.

Sometimes, President Trump can be a bit rude (and crude) for my taste.

Still, the mayor of Phoenix surely takes the prize for unparalleled rudeness among politicians!

I was born in 1948; and never before, in my memory, has a mayor disinvited a sitting president from his city.

Let’s be clear: A pardon of Arpaio can be viewed only as a presidential endorsement of the lawlessness and discrimination that terrorized Phoenix’s Latino community. Choosing to announce it in Phoenix — especially in the wake of Charlottesville — would add insult to very serious injury and would reveal that the president’s true intent is to further divide our nation.

America is hurting. And it is hurting largely because Trump has doused racial tensions with gasoline. With his planned visit to Phoenix on Tuesday, I fear the president may be looking to light a match.
