Police Release Illegal Alien Who Then Murders Girlfriend Ryan Saave

ahh a sanctuary city, pretty cool huh, every member of the city leadership from the mayor on down should be in prison

A sanctuary city in California reportedly didn’t cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, giving the federal agency no time to pick up an illegal alien they released from custody, who then allegedly murdered his girlfriend two weeks later.

Santa Rosa police arrested 38-year-old Nery Israel Estrada-Margos on August 18 after he turned himself in for allegedly beating his girlfriend — 42-year-old Veronica Cabrera Ramirez — to death, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported.

Estrada-Margos was in police custody before the murder on August 2 for felony domestic battery charges after he allegedly beat Ramirez following a heated argument.
Police released Estrada-Margos from custody on August 3 – despite a detainer request lodged against him by ICE officials – after he posted the required $30,000 bail.
Sonoma County Sheriff Rob Giordano deflected blame from his county, an official sanctuary city, by giving misleading statements to local media outlets who then blamed ICE.
“We did notify ICE of his release date and time. Sometimes they pick up, sometimes they don’t,” Giordano said.
What Giordano did not tell reporters was that Sonoma County gave ICE officials only 16 minutes to travel over 60 miles to pick up Estrada-Margos before releasing him from custody – a distance that according to Google Maps can take 90 minutes to travel.
James Schwab, ICE’s spokesman in San Francisco, documented the incident in a statement given to The Daily Caller.
“Immigration detainers serve as a legally authorized request, upon which a law enforcement agency may rely, to continue to maintain custody of an alien for up to 48 hours so that ICE may assume custody for removal purposes,” Schwab wrote. “At 8:20 p.m. the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office notified ICE’s local office that Mr. Estrada was pending release. The Sheriff’s Office then released Mr. Estrada 16 minutes later at 8:36 p.m.”

ICE needs to change its procedures to have a magistrate review ICE's charges and then the magistrate can issue a warrant.

He turned himself in. At least we can lock him up for a good long time to stew in his juices. Probably a 2nd degree murder conviction if I had to guess. Santa Rosa's city fathers can have some sad too if they have any decency.

We have to outlaw sanctuary cities in some way on a Federal level IMO.

Be sure to let us know when the USSC makes that determination, instead of illegal immigrant supporter activist judges.

Murders Jump Amid Rise in Violent Crime...

US Murders Jump Amid Rise in Violent Crime
September 25, 2017 | WASHINGTON — The number of homicides in the United States jumped for a second year in a row last year amid an increase in overall violent crime in the country, according to the FBI's annual crime statistics released Monday.
There were an estimated 17,250 murders in the U.S. in 2016, up 8.6 percent over 2015 and more than 20 percent higher than the 2014 levels, according to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting data. The murder rate also rose, from 4.9 to 5.3 per 100,000 residents. The spikes, the largest for a two-year period since U.S. crime rates peaked in 1991, raised questions about whether the United States is in the midst of a fresh violent crime spree after nearly two decades of declines.

While overall violent crimes such as murder and aggravated assault remain low by historic standards, the Department of Justice said the FBI report "reaffirms that the worrying violent crime increase that began in 2015 after many years of decline was not an isolated incident." The FBI's closely watched report tallies four categories of violent crime — murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. The report showed that overall violent crimes increased by 4.1 percent in 2016, after rising by 3.3 percent in 2015.

    Increases across the U.S.

The increases in violent crime were seen across much of the country, with cities large and small reporting rises. Approximately 70 percent of American cities with at least 20 murders in 2014 reported increases during the two-year period, said Jeff Asher, a New Orleans-based crime analyst. "It suggests that it is a national trend and not just a thing we can blame on Chicago or something we can blame on Baltimore," Asher said. "It is happening in a lot of American cities." However, Asher noted that violent crime remains "extremely geographically isolated."

In the past two years, for example, Chicago and Baltimore, the country's two most violent cities, accounted for 15 percent of the increase in the number of murders in the country. Last year, the number of murders in Chicago jumped to 765 from 478 the year before, accounting for 22 percent of the overall increase in U.S. homicides. Half of the increase in Chicago came from just five neighborhoods in the city, said John Pfaff, a Fordham University law professor and statistician. "There are five neighborhoods in Chicago with 9 percent of the city's population that explains 10 percent of the national increase in murder," Pfaff said.

I'm sure they will say it is an isolated incident, not representative of whole.
