Why do we need a secretary of business?
A Secretary of Business is somebody who gives advice in regards to business. Is it necessary? No. Is it always a good idea to get more opinions? Yes. Mitt Romney has the experience to give great advice on anything related to business. It would also be a step towards uniting the country.
You know, that was the thinking of the founding fathers. In those days it was a one party system and the guy who came in second was automatically became Veep. Cabinet jobs were spread across the lines, some of the supporters of both the winner and the loser getting jobs. The Jefferson came along and that was the end of that silliness and which is why you won't see it anytime soon, as in our lifetimes.
Obama has no control over congress because of a handful of "enemies"; he isn't likely to want to have any other "enemies" close to him either. He's a bright lad, but not wise.
And Romney? Why would he give up the cred power he now has with the GOP?
Naw....nice try though...it just makes way too much sense to ever be considered in modern politics.....

Oh, I don't know....I don't think it's all that bad of an idea. Not that it'll ever happen....but the current administration has already proven NOBODY has any savvy business acumen. Even if Romney wasn't interested (and he wouldn't and shouldn't be), a Secretary of Business makes sense to me....Commerce is too broad a responsibility nowadays. Or call it a "Czar of Business"....hell, we have dozens of Czars now in empty jobs; at least this one would have some meat and meaning to it.

Romney would be a fool to accept any offer from Obama, and Obama would be a fool to offer him anything. Were any of you conscious during the last 9 months? Do you suppose a man like Romney would even consider working with someone who spent most of last year painting Romney to be this greedy killer who feloniously failed to pay income tax for most of the last 10 years?
Besides, Romney wouldn't be part of something where he didn't have the final say. Successful people don't put themselves in positions where someone else has the final say.
Let bygones be bygones, an election is what it is.
Romney not accepting is something I also figured. At least, in that case, it would be a good will gesture.
Romney accepting though is also a good possibility, if he truly cares about this country.
Win-win situation for President Obama.

At the very least a good reason to sign is just to see the Presidents response.
We already have a dept of commerce. It would be another paid position the prezzy would simply ignore. Pointless.
