Didn't know quite where to put this one. Yes, it has the Clintons in it, but more so it talks about our prison labor system.

Prison labor for repair of roads and other public works, and for litter removal is fine with me.
Where I live, about every other year you see someone out walking along the side of the road, filling big garbage bags with litter and leaving them for their guys to pick up. Prison labor could do that chore every month, and where I live, it needs it because people have just about zero respect for litter laws. I don't even think they're enforced.
I once looked across the river in April and saw what I thought was snow. Seemed bit too warm. Took out the binoculars to verify it. It was all litter, hundreds of yards of it.

It used to be that way, I believe. Now, it's the adopt-a highway people and community service workers picking up the litter.
As for the slave labor..well that's turned into big business. And I think it stinks. Public works, yes. Private business, no.
I'm unable to give a well written and thought out treatise as to why I think it stinks at this time; nevertheless, it sets my teeth on edge.
No, we should allow prisoners to sit in jails, getting tattoos, raping other prisoners, and doing body building so they continue to beat up those they don't like. Heaven forbid you actually expect prisoners to work at something.

Actually, I can't read it since its an unprotected site and would probably infect my computer. Furthermore you don't tell us very much of what the thread really is all about. Since I can't read the link I had to rely on Lummy's post and that insinuated it was about prisoners working. Want to tell us the gist of what it says?

I said read the words in the thread. If you had read my post replying to Lummy perhaps you would have been clued in. I'll try again.
Crime committed and you're convicted? Public works labor fine by me. That sorta kinda fits fits the oft used phrase "he paid his debt to society". And you're right. Sitting in a cell with literally time on your hands to do basically as you please until a possible early release is in no way shape or form paying a debt to society.
A big problem with private business being involved in the prison system is the incentive for further abuses. Corruption, paying off judges to send people to their institution, lobbying for prison time, more prison time, inventing reasons why parole wouldn't be granted.. because why would you want to lose your work force, your bread and butter?
Get the picture?
