BigLaw associate suspended for inflating billable hours after return from honeymoon

Well over 50 weeks, that is 60 per week, now to get 60 billable per week seems very, very difficult, but just straight up working 60 hours per week, while obviously difficult, can still be doable.
So far this year through August 25th, I've done 1632.9 exactly....last year I did 2117.2 on a little over 3/4 of a year.

As of 8/31 I was at 1869. As a named partner, I have scores of non-billable hours for management, schmoozing, etc.

It's nice to see this industry policing itself. But if the intend was to charge customers for this time shouldn't their be legal charges?

i have seen ethics charges brought and once I saw legal criminal charges.

I actually get throttled on hours.

I sold my business the March prior and coming off that I picked up a temp gig which I thought was going to be over last year. This single case, it is ONE case, not multiple, they have peaks and troughs. So when it blows up, they remove the reins and I'll curn out billables. When not, in a lull, they have a hard cap at 40. These two weeks.....32.....because they closed Friday.....the deal is straight hourly through 40 and they actually pay time and a half for hours over 40.....which I had never heard before in the context of law.
