At least 100 years ago, you didn't need a mortgage to get a house, and you didn't need to pay astronomical permit/inspection/license fees to get a plot to build on. And not your every step was constantly tracked by a centralized credit monitor or a centralized other monitor.
My grandfather bought a house (kit) from Sears for $2500 and put it up himself.

This whole thing is so interesting ... and shows how manipulated every public education is. Maybe I can mention, that public education was not invented for what we believe, education. Public education is an invention of the french revolution and with the purpose of aggressive assimilation, using the shaming of children. (For their local provincial languages in the french case.)

Very wise, too bad most people are manipulated away from doing these kinds of things in today's world.

I don't think Sears has house kits anymore. Imagine the number of permits you would have to get from the local government! I had to get a permit just to replace my fuse box. I was told I should have gotten a permit to add recessed lighting- I guess I talked my way out of that one.

Exactly. The kind of manipulation I was talking about ... I think.

The appraiser? Or the agent? I told the appraiser I had the rooms gutted and he never mentioned it. Your local laws must require him to.

The appraiser. He explained that my answer was not acceptable for his approval so I quickly spinned my answer to satisfy him.
