Not what I said, but it has to be considered. Being a new mother is hard enough, and adding something like postpartum depression or psychosis creates a bad situation.

Mothers who kill their children, especially shortly after giving birth, and have associated psychosis with it are statistically likely to be experiencing postpartum depression or psychosis. This mother doesn't meet the clinical diagnosis because she didn't exhibit symptoms for a full two weeks, but odds are, based on almost every other example of (1) killing an infant and (2) have associated psychosis, is that she is experiencing a mental illness common to new mothers.
