How does the field crew fix those holes? I know they don't just put in dirt and tamp it down. How do they fix it?
There is a special clay, called "packing clay", that is used to fill in the holes. The clay is moistened and the moisture helps the added clay to bind to the existing clay. Professional ball diamonds have the most abused areas, like the mound and home plate, already built with this type of clay, so adding additional clay is quick and effective.

    Question back at ya:

"What is the longest sentence using only one word?"

    (No googling. Pretty fun answer.)

    Perianne question:

When they were naming the planets, didn't they know that "Uranus" would be the laughing stock of the solar system?

1,000 years from now you meet someone. "Where do you live". "Uranus".

In most places it's pronounced 'yer a nus' as opposed to "yer anus".
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.
