At the very least they spun it. Like most things there's probably a little truth in what both sides are saying. For Trump to pull a 180 after hearing the fallout would not be unprecedented.

Considering Pelosi's letter to her House colleagues;

"Tonight, Leader Schumer and I had a productive meeting with President Trump where we agreed to a plan to work out an agreement to protect our nation’s DREAMERs from deportation."

I'd say Pelosi and Schummer were doing a lot more than spinning.
