    Bomb on London train

    Bomb on London train

It is called a bucket bomb and seems to be more of a flame threat than shrapnel. 29 people injured.

Police in London were searching for the assailant who detonated a homemade bomb Friday that sent a scorching blast of flame and smoke through a London subway car, injuring at least 29 rush-hour commuters and sending panicked crowds scrambling for safety in what police called a terrorist incident.

As of Friday evening, authorities had given no details on possible suspects. Security measures were tightened across London’s vast mass-transit network, and the government described the threat level as critical, meaning another attack could be imminent.

British media reported that the crude device, carried in a bucket and shoved into a shopping bag, had a timer, suggesting that some degree of bombmaking knowledge was employed.

The Islamic State terrorist group claimed responsibility for the explosion on its Amaq news website. Experts cautioned that the group often seeks credit for attacks it may have inspired, as well as ones it had nothing to do with.
STRATFOR is reporting that the design was published in al Qaeda’s Inspire magazine and that it was defective. An amateur bomb maker. It could have been worse, but there is still a bomb maker on the loose. So more attacks can be expected.

An improvised explosive device detonated at the Parsons Green subway station in London during the morning rush hour commute on Sept. 15. The device, which in images from the scene appears to be a white bucket concealed in a grocery bag, is likely the work of an amateur bombmaker.

Though the device's timer was set to detonate during rush hour, the charge failed to achieve its maximum impact. Rather than inflicting the type of injuries usually associated with a large explosive device, the bomb injured 22 people and caused additional flash wounds and burns. Images of the device also show that the perpetrator used Christmas lights to detonate the main charge — a design that has appeared in bombmaking instructions published in al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's Inspire magazine. This suggests that an aspirational jihadist may have carried out the Parsons Green attack.

It is also notable that the device was timer-detonated, a tactic typically used to conduct simultaneous or serial attacks. Coupled with the fact that Inspire magazine's last issue called for grassroots militants to carry out attacks on trains, train stations and rail lines, this indicates that additional attacks should be expected.

The bombmaker is still at large and could remain a threat if he or she is able to increase the efficacy of the bomb design. London has already suffered vehicular and knife attacks by terrorists earlier this year. Nevertheless, given the surveillance and forensics available to London authorities, the perpetrator will likely be detained quickly.

True. They are wide open to the Jihadist threat from the Middle East and have their own disenfranchised Muslim populations who agree with the Jihadists. This attack seems to be done by someone from the latter group. Luckily he didn't really know what he was doing. The attack could have been worse.

Terrorism will slow way down when we wipe out the terrorists' families. Leave none alive no matter how long it takes.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

People who spew hate like the above give the terrorist recruiters a propaganda gift.
News: Rich people paying rich people to tell middle class people to blame poor people.

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.

What do you find hateful about killing every member of a terrorist's extended family? It would be policy. An effective, counter-terrorist policy.

Perhaps. But given this is your what....5th or 6th attack in a year, perhaps it's policies you subscribe to that are giving the terrorists gifts. Hmmm.

True enough. More importantly, they must be seen as terrorism rather than lone wolf attacks. There was a time many an Observer considered the older Tsarnaev Brother a lone wolf, or Major Hasan.
