I'm very quiet in person. You wouldn't even know I was there.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

I'm reserved in person but that shouldn't be confused with shy. I'm not shy and have no problem speaking my mind. I don't like to hurt people's feelings. I don't think it's necessary or productive and I cringe when I see other's do it. I generally don't get too close to people for no other reason than I don't want to put out the effort. I have a very small circle of friends. Overall, I do think my on line personality is an accurate reflection of who I am in real life.

My friends son is 6'8 and hes huge, his shoulders are 4' wide hes got dark hair and a beard and he looks ferocious, hes one of those that when hes not smiling he looks like a mass murderer.

The kid is as gentle a giant as you will ever find, hes kind, courteous polite and QUIET, but because of his size and appearance he walks in a room and makes people uncomfortable, he knows it and he smiles at everyone to reassure them.

I am a bit mouthier in real life. Otherwise, I think I am about the same. I do have more anxiety in real life when dealing with people I do not know.

Yes, the internet is inherently different from real life that way.

So many people letting their hair down and showing their dark sides -- for example, saying edgily racist things that one doesn't typically hear from the people one associates with in person. Either I would rarely encounter these people in person, or they would usually have enough awareness to not talk that way around me. But they're crawling around here, so I become more vocal in taking a stand against it here than I would need to be in real life.

Buttttt ... the few friends and family I do have who occasionally stick their toe into that murky water in real life ... I am nicer to them than I would be to most people here. I don't want to lose family or friends over this, so I usually approach them more gently if I feel the need to say something to them about it.
If you're a racist, I probably have you on ignore.

The problem with a purely political forum like this one is there's nothing else to bring people together. My first forum, back in the 90s, was an RVing forum that had a political forum area, and I ended up meeting well over 100 of the members, and we still argued the same but laughed a little more, it put things in perspective.

    This too.

If I have bonded with someone over another subject, I can be much more patient with them politically. We know each other -- we have recognized mutual goodwill. I even have one of those friends living in my attic right now, because he was going to be out on the street and I couldn't let that happen to my good friend. If we had met on a political forum, and I learned his political views first, we probably would not have become good friends. Then when he slipped into homelessness, I wouldn't have been there to stop him from falling through the cracks. He's not AWFUL politically ... I need to add that ... but we do clash on a few particular points which as friends we mostly agree not to talk about.

I am a good guy on here unless you are uncool to me. In "real life", I am well liked.
Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I digress....
