    I Just Wanted a Pizza

I am not very good at this. I was on my way to the library when I passed a pizza place. "Note to self" I thought. "Buy a pizza on the way home. It will be delicious."

So, on the way home I drove up to their drive-up window and asked if I could buy a pizza. Nope. Pick-up for called in orders only. I was mildly disappointed.

Then I saw another pizza place. I parked and went in. I stood at the counter as employees skittered about avoiding eye contact. I suppose they were busy. So after around five minutes, I left.

I am delighted that business is so good two different pizza places could do without my business.

I called Pizza Hut one Friday night and was hung up on, it is a poorly run franchise with dirty windows that I no longer patronize.

I never buy pizza from chains it just sucks. Find a local handmade pizza and call ahead and pick it up or get it delivered. I always tell them make it well done

I used to make my own, its really simple but we eat so rarely I dont bother

Calling ahead was not the point. Their signs convinced me to pull into their parking lot to buy their product, on a whim. They succeeded in getting me to their (web)site. I was a willing customer, able and ready to pay. They were not ready to serve me.

You can just buy the uncooked dough. Stretch it out and put your favorite ingredients on top. I've done that a number of times. It's half homemade, but all handmade. Most of my Italian friends don't put much on their pizzas other than sauce and fresh mozzerella and perhaps some tomatoes and basil. Possibly some olives.

I haven't had pizza in over ten years but I remember what it's like: You have to plan ahead. It's not something you can do on the spur-of-the-moment when you're in a hurry. Waiting for pizza to be made in a pizza parlor requires a lot of patience. Bring a book or magazine with you.

In some places, maybe not nearby, there are pizza buffets that offer all you can eat at a very reasonable price which includes salad. And the pizza is ready when you walk in the door. I only tried it one time and I found that it wasn't the best pizza. I ate too much and felt uncomfortable afterwards, like I would never be able to digest it all. It was awful and I said, "never again." That might have been about 12 years ago and it was the last time I had pizza.
